Dr. Deng-Chi Yang graduated from Department of Medicine, Tzu Chi University in 2004 with an M.D. degree, and M.S. degree in Gerontology in National Cheng Kung University in 2012. He received residency training in Internal Medicine, fellowship training in Nephrology and Geriatrics & Gerontology in National Cheng Kung University Hospital from 2004-2010. Since then, he has devoted himself to research and teaching in the field of Geriatrics & Gerontology. He also received outstanding research award from College of Medicine, National Cheng Kung University in 2012. Dr.Deng-Chi Yang is now an attending physician in Department of Geriatrics & Gerontology in National Cheng Kung University Hospital, and an assistant professor in School of Medicine, National Cheng Kung University.
As a clinician, Dr.Yang contributes his time to the assessment and management of older adults, witha particular focus on the diagnosis and acute care of frail older adults. In addition, as a physician specializing in both geriatrics and nephrology, he has a particular focus on the diagnosis and treatment of older adults with chronic kidney disease.
As an educator in School of Medicine, Dr.Yang is pleased to instruct students in the subjects of geriatrics and gerontology. He integrates knowledge from the textbook with experiential learning derived from his daily clinical work, subsequently engaging in discourse with his students.
As a researcher, Dr. Yang's research is centered on the study of geriatric syndromes. He has published a series of articles on geriatric syndromes, including the following: geriatric syndromes and life satisfaction, geriatric syndromes and mortality, geriatric syndromes and length of hospital stay, geriatric syndromes and quality of life, and geriatric syndromes following Coronavirus disease 2019(COIVD-19) infection. His ongoing research encompasses the study of geriatric syndromes and their trajectories in the cohort with longitudinal follow-up. Additionally, he also collaborates with the radiologist and statistician to investigate the impact of body composition on geriatric syndromes and associated outcomes.
